Privacy Policy — BiteLens

Effective 15 July 2026

This policy explains what BiteLens (com.aipoweredapps.calorieai) collects, why, and what you can do about it. It is written to be read, not to be survived. If anything here is unclear, email kshkodrani@gmail.com.

The short version

What we collect and why

Email address. Used to create and sign in to your account. We use one-time codes rather than passwords, so your email is also how we verify it is you.

Your meal photos. BiteLens needs photographs of meals to work. We use them to produce calorie and macronutrient estimates and for nothing else.

Your in-app history. What you have created and saved, so it is there when you come back.

Purchase history. Which products you bought, so we can grant what you paid for and support you if something goes wrong. Payment card details never reach us — Google Play handles payment.

We do not collect your location, contacts, advertising ID, or device identifiers, and there is no advertising or analytics SDK in the app.

Health information

If you complete the optional setup, we store the body basics and activity level you enter so we can estimate a daily calorie target. Every field is optional and the app works without them. Your meal diary is dietary information about you.

We use this information only to produce your estimates and targets inside the app. We do not sell it, share it for advertising, or use it for any purpose other than running the features you asked for.

BiteLens is not medical advice. Estimates are approximate and are not a substitute for professional dietary or medical guidance. Do not use the app to diagnose, treat, or manage any condition.

Who else touches your data

We use three service providers, each processing data on our behalf and under contract, not for their own purposes:

We do not share your data with anyone else. We do not sell it, and we do not disclose it for advertising or marketing.

We may disclose information if we are legally required to — for example a valid court order — or where it is necessary to investigate fraud or protect someone's safety.

How long we keep it

Your content stays until you delete it. Temporary upload files are automatically removed after seven days.

Delete an individual item from its own screen in the app, or delete your entire account from Settings → Delete account, which removes your account and associated content. Deletion is permanent and we cannot undo it.

If you have uninstalled the app and want your data deleted, email kshkodrani@gmail.com from the address you signed up with and we will delete it.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS, and stored in access-controlled AWS infrastructure. No system is perfectly secure, and we will not pretend otherwise — but we do not keep anything we do not need, which is the most reliable protection there is.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict processing. The delete-account control in the app covers deletion immediately. For anything else, email kshkodrani@gmail.com and we will respond within 30 days.

Our legal basis for processing (where the UK/EU GDPR applies) is the performance of our contract with you — we process this data because it is what makes the app work.

Children

BiteLens is not directed at children and is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has given us data, email kshkodrani@gmail.com and we will remove it.

International transfers

We operate in the United States (AWS `us-east-1`). If you use the app from outside the US, your data is transferred and processed there.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top and, for anything material, tell you in the app before it takes effect.
